Due to damage at the host site and in the interest of safety for those of us who were affected by last night’s storms, Mallet Days was canceled. We will try to reschedule one or two events this month prior to the Fulton Cup.
May everyone have a safe, enjoyable Labor Day.
The BCL is pleased to announce the return of our Labor Day Weekend event “Mallet Days.” Join us on Sunday, September 4 as host Mike C. once again plans for what usually is a fun event before the start of fall and back to school craziness. With our uncharacteristically short season this year, this event could help determine who gets the invites to this years Fulton Cup Championship.
All members who will be staying home this weekend are welcome, as are interested guests.
In non-BCL news, congratulations are in order to Mike as he was on the championship team in the SPSC Monday night softball league that won their league this past Monday.
August 21, 2011 Champions
Despite a brief 10 minute downpour, Mother Nature could not ruin a good afternoon for swinging mallets at small plastic balls. Special thanks to Tom for being our most with the most and giving us our first game in the second half of the season in a long time.
Interest — and Mother Nature Permitting — we are looking at conducting the Dream Cruise Classic today at 2 PM. Join us at the Back 40.
The Summer Sizzler scheduled for July 24 has been postponed on account of the weekend’s humidity.
With July 25 being the BCL’s Birthday (we turn 8 years old tomorrow!), we’re looking to move our festivities to next weekend.
Russ H. - The big winner of the night.
On Thursday, June 30, the BCL saw some firsts. It was our first event for 2011 after the crazy weather has seen us cancel many events. It was also the first time someone other than a Tillotson won the Firecracker Festival after 4 straight wins by that family. Finally, it was also the first time we played a sanctioned cornhole match.
While we will not have an event today (June 26), we are pleased to announce our 2011 season will kick off in conjunction with the Red Run Fireworks to be held this Thursday, June 30 (with a Friday makeup date in the event of rain).
Join us Thursday night at Red Run Park for a pre-firework tournament after which you may leave or stay for the Red Run fireworks.
A definite start time should be determined by Tuesday night.
Rumor has it that Nessie has taken her swamp and left Callan Yard (let’s hope!). To celebrate, we will start the season this Sunday (June 26) with our usual 1 pm start time.
Stay tuned and hope for warm weekend weather!
The weather continues to hamper our first event of the year. However, we would like to take time to recognize all the dads who have been a part of our league and any 2011 graduates of any age. Congratulations.
At present, I’m not sure if there is any interest in playing tomorrow (June 12). If there is, more details will follow.
With June 19 being Father’s Day, we may or may not conduct any events due to the special day. However, we would like to recognize any graduates in our membership. So feel free to pass along your graduates for recognition that week.
We will schedule a tentative event the weekend of June 26, more details to come.
Finally, the Red Run Fireworks will be held on Thursday, June 30 (with Friday, July 1 as the rainout date). We will determine if we will conduct our traditional Firecracker Festival that night or on an alternative date.
